The baby — not really a baby anymore — recently started walking. Today was creepily, unseasonably warm, so we took her to the park that they built on top of the underground parking structure at the hospital where I gave birth. She took her first steps outside. Clearly hating every minute, obviously. Only a matter of time (like, hours at this rate) before she takes off at a run and we never see her again.
You are so lucky to be fully living your little girl’s life with her rather than sitting in meetings about revising a course catalog.

I really am. Though my friends who work full-time have wonderful relationships with their kids too.

Awesome! Though sometimes I wish kids were more like giraffes. They’d plop out, scramble up on spindly legs, and start ambulatin’ posthaste! No more years of feeding, scrubbing, and ass-wiping!
