Ha! I am pretending to be Kristin Wiig in Bridesmaids and my husband is acting like he just made the biggest mistake of his life, which he probably did.
Congratulations! (And: I gotta learn to sew. I have a sewing machine THAT IS STILL IN THE BOX. I minimally used one in high school, you know, to do tiny jobs, and I could surely manage to sew something simple….)
Congrats! You don’t know me, but I’m a friend of Melvin’s and I’ve really been enjoying your writing (underemployed PhD here).
Reading now that you sew your clothes in two posts, and seeing what your style is like, I have to mention my friend’s pattern company that she started and now does full time: http://www.colettepatterns.com/
Sorry if it’s weird to mention that here but given your comment about sewing and body image, I thought you might enjoy!
I love Sarai’s patterns! I have her book and I’ve made like four variations of the Crepe as well. Tell her she has a huge fan in me. Gertie happens to have a smaller bust than Sarai (like me) so I do fewer alterations on her patterns, but I adore them both.
Congratulations! Lovely dress, beautiful purse, and a very nice-looking groom. 🙂 🙂

I know! Still don’t know how I managed to get him to do it! I made my dress!

You made it yourself??? Wow, that’s talent.

I just followed a pattern! I taught myself to sew about 4 years ago, and it has made a big difference in my body image.
